Import trades from Zerodha

Zerodha exports one tradebook per segment from Console, and uploading only the equity one is why half your trades look missing.

What this does

Brings Zerodha trades into VEXA from the Console tradebook.

Before you start

  • Automatic sync is not live yet. The broker screen shows an API Sync Coming Soon banner. Kite Connect returns only the current day’s trades, which is no use for a trade journal, so VEXA uses the Console export in the meantime.
  • Console is a different site from Kite. Go to console.zerodha.com, not kite.zerodha.com.
  • Zerodha exports one tradebook per segment. Export each segment you trade and upload each one.
  • Zerodha keeps several years of history, so one pass can bring in everything.
  • Times are IST. India does not observe daylight saving, so there is nothing to configure.

Steps

Same on every platform

  1. Sign in at console.zerodha.com.
  2. Go to Reports, then Tradebook.
  3. Choose a segment: Equity for NSE and BSE, F&O for NSE derivatives, Commodity for MCX, or Currency.
  4. Set the date range. A custom range covering your whole history works.
  5. Download as CSV, not Excel.
  6. Upload it to VEXA.
  7. Go back to step 3 and repeat for every other segment you trade.

The per-segment trap

A trader who trades Nifty options and a few equities, and exports only the equity tradebook, gets a clean import with no errors and no warnings, missing most of their trading. Nothing in VEXA can detect this, because a tradebook with no F&O rows in it is indistinguishable from a trader who does not trade F&O.

Charts are blank on Indian symbols

VEXA has no market data provider for NSE, BSE or MCX yet. Your Zerodha trades import correctly, and every number VEXA calculates from them is right, but the price chart on a trade’s analysis page has nothing to draw for an Indian symbol. This is a gap in coverage rather than a problem with your import.

Limits and gotchas

  • CSV, not Excel. The Excel export is a different layout.
  • Options and futures carry lot sizes. VEXA applies the contract size, so quantities read in units rather than lots.
  • If your figures do not match Console, re-import each segment. Re-importing never duplicates, so checking costs nothing.

What you should see

A result panel naming the Zerodha tradebook format, once per segment file. Upload the equity book and equity trades appear; upload the F&O book and your derivatives join them. Your totals should reconcile against Console to the paisa.

If it doesn’t work

  • Half your trades are missing. You have not uploaded every segment.
  • “No trades were found in this file.” You exported the Excel format, or a range with no trades in it.
  • The trade chart is empty. Expected on Indian symbols. See above.
