Import trades from Tradovate

Tradovate's order export carries no commission, so VEXA estimates it. The performance report carries the real fees, and it is the one to use.

What this does

Brings Tradovate futures trades into VEXA. There are two exports and the choice between them decides whether your profit figures are exact or approximate.

Take the performance report if you have one

Tradovate’s round-trip performance export carries the real fees and the real net profit for each trade. Nothing has to be reconstructed and nothing has to be estimated. If you trade a funded account through Topstep or a similar firm, this is usually the export you already have.

Its header row starts with Id, ContractName, EnteredAt, ExitedAt. VEXA recognises it automatically on both the normal upload and the AI import page.

The orders export estimates commission

The Orders export does not include commission at all. Tradovate leaves it out. VEXA fills the gap with an estimate of $0.79 per contract on micro futures and $1.29 per contract on standard futures, which is close for most accounts and exact for none.

That is why a Tradovate import can be slightly off against your statement. It is an estimate doing its job, not a parsing error.

Before you start

  • Automatic sync shows a Coming soon banner. File import is the route today.
  • Demo and paper accounts are not supported.
  • Two years of history.
  • Times are Chicago time.

Steps

Same on every platform

The orders export

  1. Sign in at trader.tradovate.com.
  2. Open Reports, then the Orders tab.
  3. Set the date range.
  4. Download the CSV.
  5. Upload it to VEXA.

The performance export

  1. In Tradovate, or in your funded account’s dashboard, download the round-trip performance report.
  2. Upload it to VEXA. There is nothing to configure.

Contract sizes

VEXA resolves the contract size from the symbol, and Tradovate symbols carry a single-digit year, like MGCQ6. Both single and double digit years are handled.

If a contract is not recognised, the result panel warns you that it imported with a size of one, which makes that trade’s profit wrong by the contract size. Report the symbol rather than adjusting the trade by hand. See “Unrecognized futures contract” warning and How futures contracts are imported.

What you should see

A result panel naming a Tradovate format. The performance export reconciles exactly with your statement. The orders export reconciles on gross profit and differs on net by roughly the commission estimate.

If it doesn’t work

  • Your profit is slightly off across every trade. You used the orders export and the commission is estimated. Use the performance report, and see My P&L does not match my broker.
  • Profit is out by a large round multiple on one contract. The contract was not recognised. Check the result panel for the warning.
  • “No trades were found in this file.” You exported fills or positions rather than orders, or the range holds no trading.
