My import said success but nothing appeared

The upload finished, the result panel looked fine, and your trades are not there. Read the numbers on the result panel to find out which of four things happened.

What this does

A successful upload means the file was read. It does not promise the file contained closed trades. Four different situations all end with a green result panel and an account that looks empty, and the numbers on that panel tell you which one you hit.

Before you start

Go back to the result panel from the upload if it is still on screen. If you have navigated away, upload the same file again. Re-uploading is safe and costs nothing, and the second run reports the same diagnosis.

Read the result panel first

What the panel says	What happened
”No trades were found in this file.”	Nothing was parsed. Wrong report type. Go to the next section.
”All N trades in this file were already imported from previous uploads.”	The file is a duplicate of one you already imported. Nothing is wrong.
Imported 0, Open positions: N	Your fills opened positions and never closed them. Go to open positions below.
Imported N, and you still see nothing	The trades landed under an account your filter is hiding. Go to the account filter below.

The footer line, “Processed N executions from M rows”, is the most useful number on the panel. Rows is what was in your file. Executions is what VEXA could use. A large gap between them means the file is the wrong shape.

The file was the wrong report

Most brokers offer several exports and only some of them contain execution detail. These are the exports that look right and are not:

Coinbase: the Gain/Loss report cannot be read. Export Transaction History.
MetaTrader 4: the Normal report has no commission or swap columns. Save the Detailed Report.
MetaTrader 5: the Positions and Orders views have no fill detail. Switch the History tab to Deals.
Interactive Brokers: the manual upload wants a Trade Confirmation Flex Query in CSV, not an Activity query and not XML. See Export an IBKR Trade Confirmation Flex Query.
Schwab and thinkorswim: exporting only the cash-activity section of an account statement gives a file with no trades in it. Export the whole statement, or the trade history section.
PropReports: the Detailed report is the one with fill-level rows. Others summarise.

Re-export the correct report and upload again. The failed attempt left nothing behind to clean up.

Everything became an open position

If the panel counted open positions but no imported trades, VEXA read your file correctly and found only opening fills. A trade is created when a position goes flat, so an export that starts partway through your history, or ends before you closed, produces open positions instead of closed trades.

Open positions are on the Portfolio page on web, iPad and Android tablet. iPhone and Android phone have no Portfolio screen, so check on one of the other three.

The fix is to export a wider date range that includes the closing fills, then upload that. Positions show as open that I already closed covers this in full.

The trades are hidden by the account filter

When an upload creates a new account, VEXA selects it so the new trades are visible straight away. Two things can still leave you looking at the wrong set: uploading into an account you then filtered out, and an upload that created a second account for a broker you already had.

Set the account filter to All Accounts and look again. If the trades appear there but not under any single account, read My trades only show under “All Accounts”.

What you should see

A result panel counting imported trades, with the detected format named at the top, and those trades appearing in your journal and metrics for the dates in the file. The panel also lists any rows it could not read, with a reason for each, so a partial success is visible rather than silent.

If it still doesn’t work

The panel showed row errors. Read them. They name the row and the reason.
A large file seemed to fail and then the trades appeared. That is a timeout on the display side while the import kept running. See File formats, size limits and upload errors.
Some trades imported and some did not. That is a different problem. See Some of my trades are missing.

Some of my trades are missing Part of your history imported and part did not. Almost always the export covered less than you thought, or your broker splits its history across several files. Positions show as open that I already closed VEXA closes a position when the closing fills reach it. An export that starts or ends mid-position leaves the fills open. How to close them properly.
