Connect Trading 212

Trading 212 syncs automatically with an API key you generate in the app, and its Activity Report covers five years for the backfill.

What this does

Trading 212 is one of the nine brokers whose automatic sync is live. Connect it once and VEXA pulls every six hours.

Before you start

  • API access may need requesting inside Trading 212 before the option appears. It is free.
  • The key is shown once. Copy it the moment it appears. If you lose it, generate a new one.
  • Invest and ISA accounts are covered.
  • The Trading 212 API is in beta and rate-limited to 60 requests a minute and 1,000 a day. VEXA stays well inside that.
  • The Activity Report reaches five years, further than the API, so upload one file if you want older history.
  • Times are London time.

Set up the automatic sync

  1. In Trading 212, open Settings and find the API section. Request access if it is not enabled.
  2. Choose Generate API Key.
  3. Copy the key straight away.
  4. In VEXA, open the Trading 212 page and paste the key on the automatic sync tab.
  5. Save the connection.

Export an Activity Report for your back history

  1. In Trading 212, open the menu and go to History.
  2. Choose the export or download report option.
  3. Pick Activity Report.
  4. Set the date range, up to five years.
  5. Download as CSV.
  6. Upload it to VEXA.

Limits and gotchas

  • Deposits, withdrawals and interest are filtered out. Only trades are imported, so the row count in the file will be higher than the trades VEXA reports.
  • The key is a read credential. VEXA never places orders.
  • Uploading the Activity Report after the sync is already running is safe. Anything the sync already holds is discarded.

What you should see

After connecting, the account shows an Active badge and a first pull runs. From then on the last-sync time advances every few hours without you doing anything.

If it doesn’t work

  • The key was rejected. It was truncated on copy, or it has been regenerated since. Make a new one and paste it again.
  • The sync works but old trades are missing. The API does not reach as far back as the Activity Report. Upload the file.
  • The account shows Needs Reauth. The key was revoked or regenerated at Trading 212. See Reconnect a broker.
