Sync Trades did nothing
Why the Sync Trades button on Home can import nothing at all, and what the orange dot on the broker button next to it is telling you.
What this does
Explains the two controls at the top left of the Home screen on your phone: the Sync Trades pill, and the small round broker button beside it.
What Sync Trades actually does
It asks every connected broker that VEXA can pull from for anything new. That is a smaller set than “your brokers”:
- A broker whose automatic sync is live gets pulled. New closed trades appear.
- A broker you only import files from has nothing to pull. Sync Trades cannot fetch a file you have not exported.
- MetaTrader 4 and 5 are never pulled. Your desktop terminal pushes to VEXA, so there is nothing for the button to do.
So if every account you hold imports from files only, Sync Trades is doing its job and the job is empty. This is the most common version of “the button is broken”.
The other three reasons
You are inside the cooldown. A sync can run once a minute per account. Tapping again inside that minute does nothing at all.
The connection needs reauthorising. Sync skips accounts marked as broken. Open your broker list and look for the amber badge, then see Reconnect a broker.
There is genuinely nothing new. A sync that finds no new fills reports nothing, which is indistinguishable from a sync that did not run. Check the last-sync time on the account row: if it moved, the sync ran.
The round button next to it
To the right of Sync Trades is a small round button with a bank icon. It opens your profile scrolled to your broker list, which saves you the trip through the avatar.
An orange dot on it means a broker connection was started and never finished. Something was left half-configured, usually a credential that was never saved or a setup screen that was closed early. Tap it, open the account it points at, and finish the setup. The dot clears when the connection is complete.
Steps
- On Home, tap the round bank button to the right of Sync Trades.
- Look at each account’s badge and last-sync time.
- Finish any account showing an orange dot or a reauthorisation badge.
- Go back to Home and tap Sync Trades again.
- On Home, tap the round bank button to the right of Sync Trades.
- Look at each account’s badge and last-sync time.
- Finish any account showing an orange dot or a reauthorisation badge.
- Go back to Home and tap Sync Trades again.
What you should see
A sync that has work to do updates the last-sync time on the account rows and brings any new closed trades into Journal and Metrics. Nothing pops up to confirm it, so the last-sync time is the thing to watch.
If it doesn’t work
- Every account you hold imports from files only. Export from your broker and upload. See Upload a statement or CSV.
- You have no accounts yet. See Connect a broker.
- The last-sync time moved but no trades arrived. The broker had nothing new inside its history window. For older trades, upload a file.
