Dictate a journal entry

The mic button on a Journal day starts a voice session that already knows which day you are talking about.

What this does

Every Journal day and period carries a mic button. Pressing it opens a VEXA Voice session that has already been handed that day’s context: the trades, the P&L, the scores. You can talk through the session instead of typing it up, and the coach knows what you are referring to.

Before you start

Voice needs Edge or Pro, and it spends your monthly voice minutes. See AI limits by plan.

The microphone permission is requested the first time you start a session. On a phone, granting it once covers every later session.

A dictated session is a conversation, not a transcript that lands in the notes box. If you want text saved against the day, type it or paste it in afterwards. See Write a journal entry.

Steps

  1. Open Journal from the sidebar and find the day.
  2. Press Expand.
  3. In the Journal column, press the mic button. Its tooltip reads “Start Voice Journal”.
  4. Allow microphone access if the browser asks.
  5. Talk. End the session from the voice controls when you are done.
  1. Tap the book icon at the bottom of the screen and pick the day.
  2. Scroll to Daily Reflection.
  3. Tap the microphone button next to the editor.
  4. Allow microphone and speech recognition access if iOS asks.
  5. Talk. The session keeps running if the screen locks, because Voice holds an audio session.
  1. Open Journal from the sidebar and pick the day.
  2. Scroll to the reflection editor.
  3. Tap Reflect with VEXA Voice.
  4. Allow microphone and speech recognition access if iPadOS asks.
  5. Talk. The transcript can be opened in its own sheet titled “Transcript”.
  1. Tap the book icon at the bottom of the screen and pick the day.
  2. Scroll to Daily Reflection.
  3. Tap the voice button next to the editor.
  4. Allow microphone access if Android asks.
  5. Talk. A floating mini-player appears if you navigate away, and dragging it brings the session back.

  2. Scroll to the daily reflection card.
  3. Tap the voice button next to the editor.
  4. Allow microphone access if Android asks.
  5. Talk. End the session from the voice controls when you are done.

What you should see

The voice session opens already anchored to the day you were on, so an opening question like “how did I do today” resolves to that date rather than to the current one. Period reflections behave the same way for the week, month, quarter or year you had selected.

If it doesn’t work

  • The session opens with no context. You started Voice from the tab or the sidebar rather than from the Journal card. Go back to the day and use its own mic button.
  • Nothing happens when you press the mic. Check the microphone permission. On iPhone and iPad, VEXA needs both microphone and speech recognition.
  • You ran out of minutes. Voice stops at your monthly allowance. See When you hit a limit.
