Mark a Showed Up day
Days you sat at the desk and chose not to trade count towards Discipline. You mark them on the Metrics calendar, and the web Journal is where they show up.
What this does
A Showed Up day is a day you were present, watched the market, and took no trades. VEXA treats that as a positive Discipline signal rather than as an empty day.
Before you start
You mark a Showed Up day on the Metrics calendar, and on the web you read it back in the Journal. Those are two different screens. People look for the control on the Journal card and do not find it, because it is not there.
Only days that qualify get the control:
- The day must have no trades on it.
- The day must not be in the future.
- The day must not be a market holiday. Holiday cells are detected from the markets your own trades touch, and they carry no checkbox.
Steps
- Open Metrics from the sidebar.
- Find the P&L Calendar Heatmap widget. If it is not on your board, add it from Add.
- Set the date range so the month you want is showing, then click into that month for the enlarged grid.
- Hover the empty day. A small checkbox appears in the top right of the cell.
- Tick it. A toast confirms “Marked as showed up”, and the cell turns white and translucent with a Showed Up label. Untick it to remove the mark.
- Tap the bar chart icon, the fourth icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to the Calendar chart.
- Navigate to the month you want with the month controls.
- Tap the checkbox on the empty day cell.
- The cell turns white and translucent. Tap the checkbox again to remove the mark.
- Open Metrics from the sidebar.
- Scroll to the calendar chart.
- Navigate to the month you want.
- Tap the checkbox on the empty day cell.
- The cell turns white and translucent. Tap it again to remove the mark.
- Tap the bar chart icon, the fourth icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to Trading Calendar. The This Month button jumps you back to the current month.
- Navigate with the month chevrons. Year chevrons appear only when your data covers more than one calendar year.
- Tap the checkbox on the empty day cell.
- The cell turns white and translucent. Tap it again to remove the mark.
- Open Metrics from the sidebar.
- Scroll to Trading Calendar and navigate to the month you want.
- Tap the checkbox on the empty day cell.
- The cell turns white and translucent. Tap it again to remove the mark.
Where it shows up afterwards
On the web Journal, a Showed Up day gets its own card: an eye icon, a Showed Up pill, the subtitle “No trades taken - discipline day”, a status of “Present”, and a Discipline Day panel explaining why the day counts.
On iPhone, iPad, Android and Android tablet the mark is stored and scored the same way, but the app Journal does not render a Showed Up card for it. To see the mark on those devices, go back to the Metrics calendar, where the cell stays white and translucent.
What it is worth
Showed Up days feed the AI discretionary part of your Discipline score, over a two-week window. The scoring guidance awards up to +5 points for a Showed Up day, and more when the context makes the restraint harder:

Long runs of consecutive Showed Up days are read more carefully. Sitting out for two weeks is not the same signal as sitting out one hard morning.
What you should see
The cell changes colour immediately, and the legend under the calendar gains a Showed Up chip. Your Discipline score does not move until scores are next calculated. See Recalculate your scores.
If it doesn’t work
- There is no checkbox on the day. The day has trades on it, is in the future, or is a market holiday.
- You marked a day and Discipline did not move. Scores are computed once per day and cached. Recalculate, or wait for the next sync.
- You cannot find the mark in the Journal on your phone. That card is web only. The mark is still stored and still scored.
