The Journal: day, week, month, quarter and year

How the five Journal periods differ, and why the web Journal shows a stack of days while the apps show one day at a time.

What this does

The Journal is where a trading day gets a story attached to it. Each period view pairs your P&L for that stretch of time with your scores, your health numbers and whatever you wrote down.

There are five periods: Day, Week, Month, Quarter and Year.

Before you start

The Journal needs Edge or Pro. On a free account it shows a lock screen. See Why a feature is locked.

Two structural differences worth knowing before you open it:

  • On the web, the Day view is a scrolling stack of day cards covering your selected date range, newest first. In the apps, the Day view shows one day at a time with arrows to step between days.
  • Week, Month, Quarter and Year show one period at a time everywhere, with their own navigator.

Steps

  1. Open Journal from the sidebar.
  2. Pick a period from the selector at the top: Day, Week, Month, Quarter or Year.
  3. In Day view, set the date range with the date picker to control which days appear.
  4. In the other views, use the < and > chevrons to move between periods. Quarter view adds Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 buttons, and there is a year dropdown covering two years either side of the current one.
  1. Tap the book icon, the fifth icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Pick a period from the selector at the top: Day, Week, Month, Quarter or Year.
  3. Use the ‹ and › steppers to move a day or a period at a time.
  4. Tap the period label itself to jump. It opens a picker headed Select Week, Select Month, Select Quarter or Select Year.

What each period shows you

PeriodWhat you get
DayOne trading day: net P&L, the day’s trades, an intraday P&L curve, your scores for that date, health numbers and your notes.
WeekOne ISO week, keyed as 2026-W14. Period stats, a daily P&L bar chart, largest win and largest loss, and a week reflection.
MonthOne calendar month, keyed as 2026-04. Same shape as the week card.
QuarterOne quarter, keyed as 2026-Q2. The bars inside it are weeks.
YearOne year, keyed as 2026. The bars inside it are months.

In the period views, Best Winning Day and Worst Losing Day are grouped by calendar day, not by whatever the chart’s bars happen to be. A quarter’s bars are weeks, but its best day is still a single day.

What you should see

A day with activity always renders a card. A day appears in the Journal if it has trades, or a journal entry, or a Showed Up mark. Days with none of those are not shown at all.

If nothing in your range qualifies, the web Day view says “No Trading Days” with “No trading activity or journal entries found for the selected date range. Try adjusting your filters.” The period views say “No Trading Activity”.

If it doesn’t work

  • A trade is on the wrong day. The Journal buckets a trade by its entry date, and most other screens bucket by exit date. See Why a trade appears on a different day in different places.
  • You expected more day cards than you got. The web Journal renders at most 22 day cards. See Journal limits.
  • The Journal takes a moment to open on Android. The phone Journal forces a fresh sync every time it opens, because the local cache was found to go months stale. The wait is deliberate.
