Override a day's grading

Change a rule's result by hand, revert it back to automatic, and fill in the sleep and journal inputs the grader cannot see.

What this does

The grader only knows what your imported trades tell it. The Day Detail panel is where you correct it, and where you supply the two inputs it cannot read: how much you slept, and whether you did your journal.

Before you start

Overrides take effect immediately. They are not subject to the four-hour cooldown that limits the Refresh button, so you can correct a day and see the score move at once.

An override is stored against that day and that rule. It does not change the rule, and it does not change how any other day was graded.

Steps

  1. Open Rules Tracker from the sidebar.
  2. Click the day you want in the compliance calendar. The Day Detail panel slides in.
  3. Read the rule row: its name, its status pill, and the evidence string the grader produced.
  4. Press Followed, Partial or Not Followed to override it.
  5. To undo, use the revert control on that row to put it back on automatic.

  3. Read each rule’s result and the evidence underneath it.
  4. Set the result you want. The row gains an Edited badge.
  5. Tap Revert to auto to put it back. The badge returns to Auto.

Reading the evidence before you override

Every graded rule shows the grader’s working. It always names the number it measured and the limit it measured against.

Nine times out of ten the evidence explains the result and there is nothing to override. The cases that genuinely need one are days where a trade imported wrongly, or where a rule cannot see the thing it is really about.

The two soft inputs

Sleep hours. A number you type in. On the web it saves when you click away from the field. This is what makes a sleep-based rule fire on a day when no wearable synced. See Sleep-based rules.

Journal done. A switch, labelled “Journaled today” on Android. It answers any boolean rule that reads your journal.

Notes on the panel are read-only. They come from your Journal entry for that day.

What you should see

The status pill changes the moment you press it, and the day’s compliance score recalculates with it. On the web the change is applied optimistically and reconciled against the server response. If the write fails, the row reverts and a toast tells you.

The calendar cell behind the panel changes colour if the override moved the day into a different band.

If it doesn’t work

  • The panel says “No compliance data for this day.” The day has not been evaluated yet. The subtitle says “Data appears after the engine evaluates the day’s trades.”
  • The panel says “No rule evaluations for this day.” The day was evaluated and no rule applied to it.
  • Your override bounced back. The write failed. Try it again, and check your connection.
  • You overrode a rule and the score did not move. The rule was N/A before, so it was excluded from the day’s score. Giving it a result adds it to the denominator, which can move the score in either direction.
