Create a rule in plain English

Type the rule the way you would say it, check what VEXA turned it into, then confirm.

What this does

You describe a rule in ordinary language. VEXA’s AI turns it into one of the six structured rule types, shows you what it produced, and only saves it once you confirm.

Before you start

The Rules Tracker and the rule parser both need Edge or Pro. VEXA checks your access before it spends an AI call, so a locked account gets an error rather than a silent failure.

Always read the preview. The parser is good at the common shapes and it will still misread an ambiguous sentence. “Stop at 2k” could be a daily loss line or a single-trade loss line. The preview is where you catch that.

You can backdate a new rule. Setting a past start date grades your already-imported trades from that day forward against the new rule. This is available when creating a rule, not when editing one.

Steps

  1. Open Rules Tracker from the sidebar and press Manage Rules.
  2. Press Add rule.
  3. Stay on the Natural language tab. It reads “Describe your rule in plain English. VEXA will parse it into a structured constraint you can review before saving.”
  4. Type the rule, for example “no more than 3 trades after 11am” or “stop if I lose $2k in a day”.
  5. Press Parse rule. The button reads Parsing… while it works.
  6. Read the preview card headed “Here’s what I’ll create:”. Press Edit to open it in the structured form, or confirm to save it.

  5. Tap Analyze with VEXA AI.
  6. Give it a name under “Name this rule”, then tap Create rule.

  2. Tap the sliders icon in the top bar to open Manage Rules.
  3. Choose the Add tab.
  4. Type under “Describe your rule:”, for example “No trades after 2 PM”.
  5. Tap Analyze with VEXA AI.
  6. Read the preview headed “I’ll create: …”, fill in the required Rule Name, then tap Confirm. Edit drops you into the structured form instead.
  1. Open Rules Tracker from the sidebar.
  2. Press Manage Rules.
  3. Choose the Add tab.
  4. Type under “Describe your rule:”.
  5. Tap Analyze with VEXA AI.
  6. Read the preview, fill in the required Rule Name, then tap Confirm.

How to backdate

On the web, use Start tracking from (optional) in the builder. Leaving it blank starts the rule today. Picking a past date grades your imported trades back to that day.

On iPhone and iPad, turn on Start tracking from a past date and choose a start date. The note underneath reads “We’ll grade your imported trades back to this date against this rule.”

Android offers the same start date field in the rule form.

What the parser knows about your account

When you describe a rule that tightens other rules, the parser is given your real rule names and ids so it binds to a rule you actually have rather than inventing one. Any target it cannot match is dropped, and if nothing survives you get an error instead of a rule that quietly does nothing.

What you should see

A preview describing the rule in one sentence, then, after you confirm, a new entry in your rules list and grading from your chosen start date onward.

If it doesn’t work

  • The preview says something you did not mean. Press Edit and fix it in the structured form. See Build a custom rule.
  • It refuses to save a loss rule. Loss red-lines must be negative numbers. The builder says “Loss red-lines must be negative (e.g. -2000).”
  • A rule that tightens other rules errors out. None of the rules it tried to target exist. Create those rules first, then create the modifier.
  • The rule reads “Unsupported rule, update VEXA” in an app. The rule was created by a newer version than the one on that device. Update the app.
