Why a feature is locked
Which parts of VEXA need Edge, which need Pro, and why a free account cannot open its own old trades.
What this does
When you open something your plan does not cover, VEXA shows a lock screen instead of the feature. Each part of the app needs a specific plan.
What needs Pro
Three features, on every platform:
- VEXA Sentinel
- Pattern Recognition
- Weekly Overview
What needs Edge or above
Everything that runs AI or does deeper analysis:
VEXA Chat, VEXA Voice, Journal, Communities, Playbooks, the VEXA Score breakdown, the CDI breakdown, Portfolio, Trade Analysis, the advanced chart, broker connections, Trades, Metrics and the Rules Tracker.
What a free account can always reach
- Home
- Profile
- The plan picker
- Onboarding
Home still opens on a free account, but the AI and score sections are skipped and the score gauge shows a placeholder.
Your own history locks too
A free or lapsed account cannot browse its own past trades or metrics. Trades and Metrics are Edge features, so they lock along with everything else.
Nothing has been deleted. Your trades, journal entries, scores and imports are all still there. Start a plan and they are visible again in the same state you left them.
What a lock screen looks like
An orange lock in a halo over the animated backdrop, with copy that depends on who you are:
| You are | It says | The button |
|---|---|---|
| On Free, never subscribed or lapsed | ”Start your 14-day free trial to unlock this feature” | Start Free Trial |
| Paying, and you opened a Pro feature | ”You need a VEXA Pro subscription to access this feature” | Unlock |
If you have subscribed to VEXA before, the first row still applies to you. The lock screen cannot tell a lapsed subscriber from someone who has never paid, so it offers the trial to both. On the web you will not actually get one: a prior subscription means checkout charges you on day one. See Why was I charged immediately instead of getting a trial?. On iPhone, iPad and Android the paywall you land on shows whether the store still has a trial for you.
Where a whole page is gated, the blurred shape behind the lock is decoration. No real content is loaded behind it.
The back button on a lock screen always returns to Home rather than the previous screen, so a locked tab cannot trap you.
What you should see
Once you start a plan, the lock disappears on the next screen load. Nothing needs reinstalling and no sign-out is required.
If it doesn’t work
- You are paying and a feature is still locked. Check whether it is one of the three Pro features above while you are on Edge. If not, see I paid but VEXA still says I’m locked.
- A feature locked while you were using it. Your Full Access week ended at that moment. Access relocks the second it expires rather than at next launch. See Full Access, free trials and your first charge.
- You bought on your phone and the web is locked. Sign in on the web with the same account. Entitlements follow the account, not the device.
