Start a subscription on the web

Pick a plan on the web, pay through Stripe checkout, and know what each of the three post-payment screens means.

Web Updated

What this does

Buying on the web puts your subscription on Stripe. Referral codes and promo codes work on this rail only, and plan changes happen inside VEXA rather than in a store.

Before you start

  • Have a card ready. Monthly plans start a 14-day free trial but still collect a payment method.
  • Annual plans are charged in full immediately. There is no annual trial.
  • Use a permanent email address. Disposable mailbox domains are rejected at checkout, because that address is where your receipts and password link are sent.

Steps

Web only

  1. Open Profile from the sidebar card at the bottom, which reads your name with View Profile under it.
  2. Find the Subscription card and tap the plan row. The Choose your plan page opens.
  3. Pick Monthly or Annual on the toggle. Monthly is selected by default because it is the one with a trial.
  4. On the Edge or Pro card, press the button. On monthly it reads Start 14-Day Free Trial. On annual it reads Get Edge or Get Pro.
  5. You are handed to Stripe. Fill in your card details there.
  6. If you have a promotion code, open Add promotion code on the Stripe page and enter it.
  7. Press pay. Stripe returns you to VEXA.

What you should see

You land on a confirmation page, which is honest about what is happening rather than always claiming success:

  1. Activating your subscription. A spinner, for the first few seconds while the payment confirmation reaches VEXA. This is normal.
  2. Almost there, activation is taking longer than usual. An orange spinner if it goes past about twelve seconds. Your payment went through and your subscription exists. The page updates itself the moment it is ready, and your dashboard unlocks on its own too.
  3. You’re in. A green tick and “Welcome to VEXA Pro” or “Welcome to VEXA Edge”. A receipt follows by email.

If you are a brand new web customer, the welcome email also carries a Set your password button. That is your only route to setting a password, so keep the email.

If it doesn’t work

  • Everything is still locked after a few minutes. See I paid but VEXA still says I’m locked. You will not be charged twice.
  • “You already have an active VEXA subscription.” You are already subscribed, so checkout refuses rather than selling you a second one. Change your plan from Profile > Subscription instead. See Upgrade from Edge to Pro.
  • “Too many checkout attempts. Please try again in a few minutes.” Five checkout attempts from one connection in five minutes trips a rate limit. Wait a few minutes.
  • “Please use a permanent email address.” Disposable mailbox domains are blocked at checkout. Use your real address.
  • You were charged with no trial. See Why was I charged immediately instead of getting a trial?.
  • You closed the Stripe page. You land on a cancelled page, you were not charged, and your plan is unchanged. Start again whenever you like.
