The Trades table

Where every imported trade lives, what each column means, and how to sort and resize the table on web, iPad and Android tablet.

What this does

The Trades table is the full list of every trade VEXA has imported for you, one row per closed trade, plus your open positions at the bottom. It is the page to open when you want to find a specific trade rather than look at aggregate numbers.

Clicking a row opens Trade Analysis for that trade, and hands it the list you were looking at, so the arrows on that page walk your filtered set in the order you sorted it.

Before you start

There is no Trades screen on iPhone or Android phone. The phones reach individual trades through Metrics and through the Journal instead. If you want the spreadsheet view, use the web app, an iPad or an Android tablet. See What works on each device.

The table respects two filters that live outside it: the date range and the account selector. A trade that is missing is usually outside the current date range rather than missing from your account.

Steps

  1. Open Trades in the sidebar.
  2. Read the five tiles across the top: Total Trades, Total P&L, Win Rate, Total Commission and Net P&L.
  3. Click any column header to sort by it. Clicking again reverses the sort, and a third click returns the table to its original order.
  4. Drag the right edge of a column header to make it wider or narrower. Your widths are saved to your account and come back on every device.
  5. Click a row to open Trade Analysis for that trade.
  1. Tap Trades in the sidebar.
  2. Read the summary strip: Total Trades, Total P&L, Win Rate, Total Commission and Net P&L.
  3. Tap a column header to sort by it.
  4. Tap a row to open Trade Analysis, or long-press a row for the Analyze, Select and Delete menu.
  1. Tap Trades in the sidebar.
  2. Read the stats cards along the top: Total Trades, Total P&L, Win Rate, Commission and Net P&L.
  3. Tap a column header to sort by it.
  4. Swipe the table sideways to reach the columns that do not fit on screen.
  5. Tap a row to open Trade Analysis. The detail view replaces the table rather than opening over it.

What the columns mean

ColumnWhat it holds
SymbolThe ticker or contract. Option contracts keep their full symbol.
Open Date / Open TimeWhen the position was opened, in your display timezone.
Close Date / Close TimeWhen it was closed. Open positions read OPEN instead of a close date.
DirectionLONG or SHORT, based on the exposure rather than the order side.
InstrumentStock, Option, Future, Crypto or Forex.
QuantityShares or contracts. Forex is shown in lots, so 0.05 rather than 5000.
Entry / ExitAverage fill price on each side.
CommissionTotal commissions and fees on the trade.
P&LProfit or loss after commissions.
StatusWIN, LOSS, BE for break even, or OPEN.

The iPad table adds Entry Time, Exit Time and a Tags column.

Two numbers that surprise people

Total P&L and Net P&L are the same number. Each trade’s P&L is already net of commissions, so there is nothing left to subtract. The two tiles exist because people look for both labels.

The win rate on this page excludes break-even trades. It is winners divided by winners plus losers. The Metrics page divides by every closed trade, so break-even trades pull that percentage down. Both are correct, and they answer slightly different questions.

What you should see

A row for every trade in the current date range, sorted newest first until you change it. Open positions sit after the closed trades with OPEN in the Close Date column and a blue OPEN status pill.

The web table pages at 100 trades and prints the count under it, for example Showing 1-100 of 4,312 trades.

If it doesn’t work

The table is empty and reads “No trades found”. A filter is excluding everything. Widen the date range first, then clear the account filter. See Filter your trades.

Columns you expect are missing. On web this is window width, not a lost setting. See Choose which columns you see.

A trade you just imported is not listed. Trade data is cached for five minutes. Use the refresh icon above the table to force a fresh read.
