Bulk-tag trades

Apply the same setup, mistake or emotion tags to many trades at once from the Trades table, without touching the tags they already have.

What this does

Bulk tagging puts the same tags on a group of trades in one action. It is how you catch up after a month of untagged imports, and how you label a run of trades that were all the same setup.

Before you start

Bulk tagging is on web, iPad and Android tablet, because it works from the Trades table. On iPhone and Android phone you tag trades one at a time from Trade Analysis. See Tag a trade.

Tags are added, not replaced. Existing tags on the selected trades stay where they are. There is no bulk untag, so removing a tag from many trades means visiting each one.

Filter the table first. Selecting the trades you want is far quicker when the table already shows only those trades.

Steps

  1. Open Trades in the sidebar and filter down to the trades you want to tag.
  2. Tick the checkbox on each row. The card title changes to Trades (N selected).
  3. Click Add Tag (N) in the toolbar.
  4. Pick tags from the three groups: Setups, Mistakes and Emotions. Your picks appear on the “Selected:” row.
  5. Apply, and the dialog closes when every trade has been written.
  1. Tap Trades in the sidebar and filter down to the trades you want.
  2. Enter selection mode and tick the rows, or tap Select All.
  3. Open the bulk tag sheet, headed Add Tags to N Trades.
  4. Pick tags from the Setups, Mistakes and Emotions groups. The sheet states that tags will be added without removing existing ones.
  5. Apply.
  1. Tap Trades in the sidebar and filter down to the trades you want.
  2. Tick the checkbox on each row. The action bar appears reading Selected: N.
  3. Tap Add Tag.
  4. Pick tags from the Setups, Mistakes and Emotions groups.
  5. Apply.

The header checkbox only covers this page

On web the table pages at 100 trades, and the header checkbox selects the current page. To tag 400 trades you tag them a page at a time, or you narrow the filters until they fit on one page.

What you should see

The dialog closes and the tags are on the trades. Open any one of them in Trade Analysis and the Tags tab shows the pills lit.

Tagged trades then appear in the tag filter on the Trades page, and in the P&L by Setups, P&L by Mistakes and P&L by Emotions widgets on Metrics.

If it doesn’t work

The message reads “N trades could not be tagged. M succeeded.” Some of the writes failed and the dialog stays open so you can see which. Reduce the selection and try the failed ones again.

The Add Tag button is not there. Nothing is selected. Tick at least one row.

You tagged the wrong trades. Open each one and click the tag pill to toggle it off. There is no bulk undo.
