Walk between trades

The previous and next arrows on the trade page follow the list you arrived from. Here is what they walk, and why a shared link sometimes has no arrows at all.

What this does

The previous and next arrows on Trade Analysis move you to the neighbouring trade without going back to the list. They are how you review a whole session in one pass.

Before you start

The arrows walk the list you arrived from, in the order you were looking at it. They are not a walk through every trade you have ever taken. If you filtered to TSLA options in March and sorted by P&L, the arrows walk exactly those trades in exactly that order.

Arriving from a Journal day gives you that day’s trades and nothing else. Arriving from the Trades table gives you the whole filtered set, all pages of it.

Steps

Open a trade from Trades or from a Journal day card.
Use the ‹ and › chevrons at the top of the left panel to step between trades.
To change what the arrows walk, go back, change the filters or the sort, and open a trade again.

Open a trade from Metrics or from a Journal day.
Use the pager arrows in the header to step between trades.

Open a trade from Trades in the sidebar or from a Journal day.
Use the chevrons in the trade information panel to step between trades.

Open a trade from Metrics or from a Journal day.
Use the chevrons in the header. The counter between them reads N/M, so you always know how far through the list you are.

Open a trade from Trades in the sidebar.
Use the chevrons in the header, with the same N/M counter as the phone.

A shared link has no list behind it

When you open Trade Analysis from a link rather than from a list, VEXA has no way to know which trades should sit either side of it.

On Android the chevrons are not drawn at all in that case, because there is nothing to walk.

On the web app VEXA rebuilds a neighbouring list from your current account filter instead, so the arrows still work but they walk a list you did not choose. If the next trade is not the one you expected after following a link, this is why. Go back to the Trades page, filter, and open the trade from there.

What you should see

The page swaps to the next trade without a full reload, and the chart is usually already drawn, because the web app quietly pre-loads the charts for the three trades either side of the one you are reading.

If it doesn’t work

There are no arrows. You opened the trade from a link rather than from a list. Open it from the Trades page or a Journal day instead.

The next trade is not the one you expected. The arrows follow the sort that was active when you opened the trade. Go back, sort the way you want, and open a trade again.

The walk is shorter than you expected. Arriving from a Journal day gives you that one day. Arrive from the Trades page if you want to walk a longer stretch.
