Create and manage custom tags
Add your own setups, mistakes and emotions, choose which category they live in, and understand what happens to old trades when you delete one.
What this does
Custom tags are tags you write yourself. They sit in the same three categories as the built-in ones and behave identically everywhere: the filters, the Metrics widgets, the coach.
Before you start
Pick the category carefully. A tag lives in the category you choose when you create it, and that category decides which Metrics widget it shows up in. A setup tag filed under Emotions ends up in the P&L by Emotions chart.
Deleting a custom tag does not clean up your history. The trades you already put it on keep it. VEXA warns you about this before it deletes.
Built-in tags cannot be deleted at all. They are shared by every account.
Steps
- Open a trade from Trades, then click the Tags tab.
- Click the + control to add a tag.
- Type the name and pick a category.
- Create it. The new pill appears in that category and is available on every trade from then on.
- To delete one, switch the tag area into edit mode and use the delete badge that appears on the pill.
- Open a trade from Metrics, then open the Tags section.
- Tap Create Custom Tag.
- Fill in Tag Name and pick a Category: Setup, Mistake, Emotion or Custom.
- Tap Create.
- To delete one, use Edit in the tag section. VEXA warns you that the tag stays on trades that already carry it.
- Open a trade from Trades in the sidebar, then open the Tags section.
- Tap Create Custom Tag.
- Fill in the name and pick the category.
- Tap Create.
- Open a trade from Metrics, then tap the Tags tab.
- Tap Create Custom Tag to open the New Tag dialog.
- Type a tag name, for example
Momentum scalp, and pick a category from the segmented control. - Create it.
- To delete one, use the delete control on the pill. VEXA warns you that the tag stays on trades that already carry it.
- Open a trade from Trades in the sidebar, then tap the Tags tab.
- Tap Create Custom Tag.
- Type the name, pick the category, and create it.
Naming that works
Tag names are normalised for case, so revenge and Revenge are the same tag rather than two.
Beyond that, VEXA does not merge similar names, so ORB and Opening Range Breakout will sit in
your list forever as two separate tags. Decide on a name once and stay with it.
Short and specific beats long and descriptive, because the tag has to fit on a pill and in a chart label.
What you should see
The new pill appears in its category on this trade and on every other trade. Tag a few trades with it, then add the matching P&L by widget on Metrics and it has its own bar.
If it doesn’t work
The tag went into the wrong category. There is no way to move it. Create it again in the right category, retag the affected trades, then delete the original.
You deleted a tag and it is still on old trades. That is intended, and VEXA warns about it before deleting. Remove it from those trades individually by toggling the pill off.
A built-in tag will not delete. It cannot. Toggle it off the trade instead. See Tag a trade.
