Why my patterns look old

Pattern Recognition refreshes weekly and caches its result. Here is what the last-updated line means and how to force a new analysis now.

What this does

Pattern Recognition does not re-run every time you open it. It runs on a schedule and serves the stored result in between, which is why the analysis can describe trading from a while ago.

Before you start

The scheduled job runs every Saturday. Between those runs, opening the screen shows the last stored analysis rather than starting a new one, because an analysis is an expensive piece of work and you would be waiting for it every visit.

That means a heavy trading week can pass with the analysis still describing the week before it.

How to tell what you are reading

On the web, the strip at the top of the screen carries the last-updated time and whether the result came from the server cache or was freshly analysed. The apps show a last-updated line in the header.

If that timestamp is older than your last significant stretch of trading, the patterns predate it.

Steps

  1. Open Pattern Recognition in the sidebar.
  2. Read the Last Updated line in the analysis strip.
  3. Press Re-analyze now.
  4. Wait for the analysis to finish. It reads your recent trades again from scratch.

What you should see

A loading state while the analysis runs, then a new last-updated time and, usually, a changed set of cards. If nothing changed, your recent trading did not change the picture, which is itself an answer.

If it doesn’t work

  • The timestamp does not move. The result is being served from cache. On the web use the Re-analyze now button rather than reloading the page, since a reload can be answered from the same cache.
  • New trades are not reflected. Confirm they imported first. Patterns are built from your trades, so a trade VEXA does not have cannot appear in one. See Refresh, caching and stale numbers.
  • It says there is not enough data after a re-analysis. The window it reads is recent trading. A long gap can leave it with too little to work from even though your history is long.
