Date range, account and advanced filters

The date range and account filter are shared across pages and stay set between visits. This is the most common reason two screens show different numbers.

Same on every platform Updated

What this does

Two controls sit above almost every analysis screen: a date range and an account filter. They decide which trades exist as far as the rest of VEXA is concerned.

Before you start

Both controls are global and they stay set. Choose “Last Quarter” on Metrics and Trades, Journal, Playbooks and Portfolio all inherit it, this visit and the next one. That is the single most common reason two screens appear to disagree: they are not looking at the same trades.

The default on a first visit is This Month, running from the 1st to today.

The date range

Presets on the web: This Week, Last Week, This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, Last Quarter, YTD and All Time, plus a two-calendar custom range. The apps carry the same set as preset chips.

“All Time” runs from your earliest imported trade to today.

The account filter

A multi-select list of your connected broker accounts, grouped by broker, with controls to select all or clear.

Selecting any account excludes trades that carry no account. Very old imports predate broker account tracking and have no account attached to them, so the moment you pick a specific account those trades drop out of every total. If history vanishes when you filter by account, clear the account filter and it comes back.

Steps

  1. Open Metrics in the sidebar.
  2. Use the date picker in the filters row for the range, or the quick preset chips underneath it.
  3. Use the account selector beside it, or the one in the sidebar, to choose accounts.
  4. Open Advanced Filters for symbol, status, instrument, direction, entry time, playbook and tags.
  5. Press Clear filters to drop everything back to the defaults.
  1. Tap the bar chart icon, fourth along the row at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap a preset in the date row, or tap either date field to pick your own start and end.
  3. Tap the account button to open Filter by Account, tick the accounts you want, then tap Apply.
  1. Open Metrics in the sidebar.
  2. Tap a chip under Quick Filters, or set the Date Range fields above them.
  3. Use the account row in the sidebar, or the account control on the screen, to choose accounts.
  1. Tap the bar chart icon, fourth along the row at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap a preset chip, or use the From and To pickers. Choosing a From date opens the To picker straight away, and choosing To applies the range.
  3. Tap the account button to open Filter by Account, tick accounts, then tap Apply Filter.
  1. Open Metrics in the sidebar.
  2. Tap a chip under Quick Filters, or use the Date Range pickers.
  3. Use the account row in the sidebar to choose accounts.

The web advanced filters

InstrumentAll, Stock, Option, Future, Crypto or Forex
DirectionAll, Long or Short

Tagssetups, mistakes and emotions

Tag selection is an “any of” match: a trade appears if it carries at least one of the tags you picked. Trades with no tags at all disappear the moment any tag filter is on.

What you should see

The trade count in the header changes the moment a filter changes, and every tile and chart redraws to match. If a filter change does nothing to the count, it did not narrow anything.

If it doesn’t work

  • Two screens disagree. Check the range and account filter on both. They are shared, but a screen you opened from a chart drill-down may be holding a temporary filter from that click.
  • Old trades vanished. You have an account selected and those trades predate account tracking. Clear the account filter.
  • The range looks wrong on Rules Tracker. It keeps its own range on purpose.
  • A time filter drops a trade you expected. Time filters run on entry time and the end of the window is exclusive, so a window of 09:30 to 09:35 covers 09:30:00 through 09:34:59.
