Save and load a Metrics layout

Keep more than one arrangement of the Metrics board, switch between them, and use the plain text boxes that Save and Load open.

What this does

A layout is a saved arrangement of the Metrics board: which widgets are on it, in what order, at what size. Save several and switch between them, for example a tight daily board and a wider review board.

Before you start

  • Named layouts are a web feature. The apps keep one arrangement per device and have no save or load control.
  • Rearranging the board without saving does not persist. Changes are written to the active named layout. If no named layout is active you are editing the default one, and the default layout is not stored, so a reload puts it back.

Steps

Web only

  1. Open Metrics in the sidebar.
  2. Arrange the board the way you want it. See Add, remove and rearrange widgets.
  3. Press Save.
  4. Type a name into the box that appears and confirm. That layout becomes the active one.
  5. To switch, press Load, read the numbered list of your saved layouts, and type the number you want.
  6. To go back to the board VEXA ships with, press Reset and confirm.

Save and Load use your browser’s prompt boxes

Save and Load use your browser’s plain prompt box rather than a styled VEXA dialog. Load asks you to type a number from a numbered list rather than clicking a name. Typing the number selects that layout.

If you press Load with nothing saved, the browser reports that there are no saved layouts yet.

What you should see

After saving, a short confirmation naming the layout. From then on, any move or resize is written straight into that layout, with no need to press Save again.

After Reset, the board returns to the arrangement VEXA ships with. Your saved layouts are not touched by Reset.

If it doesn’t work

  • Your arrangement keeps reverting. No named layout is active, so you are editing the default. Press Save, give it a name, and edit from there.
  • Nothing happens when you press Save or Load. Your browser is blocking prompt boxes for the site. Allow them, or use a different browser.
  • A saved layout looks empty. The widgets are there, but your current date range and account filter have no trades in them. Widen the range.
