The rule template gallery

Every Sentinel template, what it fires on, and which platforms ship it. Templates with the same name do not always fire at the same number.

WebiPhoneAndroid Updated

What this does

The gallery is a set of pre-built rules you can adopt in one tap. Each one watches physiology, a clock, or a market condition. None of them watches your trades, because Sentinel cannot see them.

Adopting a template creates a custom rule on your account, which you can then edit.

Read the table by the trigger, not by the name. The catalogue grew separately on each platform, so the same name can mean two different rules and two different names can mean the same rule. The table below is generated from the three apps at build time and is grouped by what a rule actually fires on. A blank cell means that platform does not ship that template.

  • A blank cell means that platform does not ship this template.
  • Rows are matched on the trigger itself, not on the template name. Two platforms appear on the same row only when the rule fires on identical conditions, so a name that appears on two rows is two genuinely different rules.

Three things in that table are worth knowing before you adopt anything.

Only three of the 32 distinct triggers exist on all three platforms. Most templates are on one platform only.

Some shared names fire at different numbers. Heart Rate Spike is a good example: adopt it on the web or on iPhone and it watches for a heart rate above 100, adopt it on Android and it watches for one above 110. Same name, different rule.

Some different names are the same rule. HRV Drop Alert on iPhone and Android fires on exactly what Low HRV Warning fires on for the web, at a different number again.

None of this stops you using the templates. It does mean you should check the value in the table before you rely on a name, and check the rule again after you adopt it.

Before you start

After adopting a template, open the rule and set the threshold you actually want. Most people do: production accounts show far more hand-picked values than template defaults.

Templates are grouped behind filter pills: All, Behavior, Health Metrics, Time-Based and Wellness. Not every template carries a category, so All shows more than the four category pills add up to.

A template that watches something your device does not measure will never fire. HRV templates need a device that sends beat-to-beat data, and sleep templates need something recording your sleep.

Steps

  1. Open VEXA Sentinel from the sidebar.
  2. Open the Rules tab and scroll to the Rule Templates gallery.
  3. Use the category pills to narrow the list.
  4. Click the add control on a template card and wait for “Adding…” to finish.
  5. Open the new rule under Trading Rules and adjust its threshold.
  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap Rule Templates.
  3. Use the category pills to narrow the list.
  4. Tap the add control on a template.
  5. Open the new rule under Trading Rules and adjust its threshold.
  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap Rule Templates.
  3. Use the category pills to narrow the list.
  4. Tap the add control on a template.
  5. Open the new rule under Trading Rules and adjust its threshold.

What you should see

The template card shows “Adding…” briefly, then the new rule appears in your Trading Rules list, enabled, with the template’s conditions filled in.

Opening it shows the condition, the operator and the value, so you can check what you actually adopted against the table above.

If it doesn’t work

The rule you adopted fires at a different number than a colleague’s. Expected if you adopted on different platforms. Compare the values in the two rules and set them both to what you want.

A template you saw on the web is not on your phone. Twelve of the templates are web-only. The table shows which. Build it by hand instead. See Build a Sentinel rule.

Adopting the same template twice created two rules. Delete one. Adoption does not check for duplicates.

The rule never fires. Its metric is not being supplied by your wearable, or a throttle is suppressing it. See Why you did not get an intervention.
