Mute intervention notifications

One switch silences every Sentinel push, criticals included. What it does not touch, and where it lives.

iPhoneAndroid Updated

What this does

Turns off every Sentinel push notification on your phone. It is called Intervention Notifications and it is on by default.

What it does not touch:

  • The intervention is still created, so it appears on the live card and in your history.
  • Voice is a separate channel and still speaks, if a voice session is connected.
  • Notifications from the rest of VEXA, daily reports, reminders and pattern alerts, are unaffected.

The setting is stored on your account and applies to every device you sign in on.

The web has no equivalent because the web has no push notifications at all.

Before you start

Muting is not the same as turning Sentinel off. Readings are still collected, rules are still evaluated, and everything is still written to your history. You will find out afterwards rather than in the moment, which is the trade you are making.

If what you actually want is fewer alerts rather than none, two settings are gentler: Critical Alerts Only limits voice to criticals and sends the rest as notifications, and a longer cooldown on a noisy rule stops it repeating.

If notifications are also blocked for VEXA at the system level, the Sentinel settings screen says “Notifications are off” and offers a button to open your phone’s settings. That system block sits above this switch and turning this one on will not override it.

Steps

  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap the gear icon, then Sentinel Settings.
  3. Scroll to Notifications.
  4. Turn Intervention Notifications off, or on.
  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap the gear icon (Settings), then Sentinel Settings.
  3. Scroll to Notifications.
  4. Turn Intervention Notifications off, or on.

What you should see

With it off: no Sentinel notifications on any of your devices, and no full-screen overlay on Android. Interventions keep appearing on the live card and in your history as they fire.

With it on: notifications arrive as normal, and on Android a critical one uses a channel that bypasses Do Not Disturb.

The switch state matches on your other devices within a moment of changing it.

If it doesn’t work

You turned it on and notifications still do not arrive. VEXA is blocked at the system level. Open your phone’s notification settings for VEXA and allow them. The Sentinel settings screen offers a shortcut when it detects this.

Criticals still came through with it off. Check you are looking at the right account, and that the change synced. It suppresses every severity when it is off.

You muted it and the coach still spoke. Voice is a separate channel. Turn off Voice Interventions as well.

You want alerts but not the full-screen takeover on Android. Lower the severity on the rule that is firing. The takeover is reserved for critical.
