Pair a different strap
VEXA remembers the last strap it paired with. Forget it and rescan when you switch devices, replace a strap, or pick up someone else's by mistake.
What this does
Clears the Bluetooth device Sentinel is bonded to and scans for a new one.
Sentinel reads physiology, so it holds on to whatever is supplying that physiology. Once VEXA has paired with a strap it keeps reconnecting to that exact strap and ignores others of the same model. That is deliberate, because in a room with two Polar H10s you do not want to end up reading someone else’s heart. It also means that swapping to a new strap, replacing a broken one, or accidentally bonding to a colleague’s device all leave you stuck with the wrong one until you forget it.
Forgetting is the only way out. There is no automatic switch.
Before you start
This lives in the phone apps. The web has the wearable picker and the setup instructions, and the pairing itself happens on the phone.
Do the rescan away from other people’s straps. The scan lists everything broadcasting nearby, and two identical model names are hard to tell apart. If you are on a trading floor, step away first.
Changing device type, from a chest strap to WHOOP for example, still means forgetting the old one. Selecting a different wearable source does not release the old bond.
Apple Watch and Wear OS watches are not affected. They connect through Apple Health and Health Connect rather than a direct Bluetooth bond, so there is nothing to forget.
Steps
- Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
- Tap the gear icon, then Sentinel Settings.
- Scroll to Wearable Source.
- Tap Forget & Rescan.
- Confirm on the Pair a different strap? prompt.
- Put the new strap on, make sure it is broadcasting, and pick it from the scan results.
- Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
- Tap the gear icon (Settings), then Sentinel Settings.
- Scroll to the wearable source section.
- Tap Forget & Scan.
- Put the new strap on, make sure it is broadcasting, and pick it from the scan results.
What you should see
The status drops to Not Connected the moment you forget the old strap, then returns to Connected with the new device named once you select it.
Start a session and the live card names the new device next to the LIVE badge.
If it doesn’t work
The scan lists two identical names. Both straps are broadcasting. Take the one you do not want out of range, or remove it from your body so it stops transmitting, then scan again.
It keeps reconnecting to the old strap. The old strap is still in range and still broadcasting. Move it away or take its battery out, then forget and rescan.
The new strap never appears. It is asleep, dry, or held by the manufacturer’s app. Check the setup article for your device.
You forgot the strap and now nothing connects. Nothing is bonded, which is the expected state after forgetting. Run the scan and choose your device.
