Sentinel session reminders

A daily nudge to start monitoring, set to market time or your device clock, that skips market holidays.

iPhoneAndroid Updated

What this does

Reminds you to start a Sentinel session. Sentinel only reads your physiology while a session is running, and the most common reason someone has no heart rate data for a bad day is that they forgot to start one. The reminder closes that gap.

The notification reads “Start your Sentinel session now.” Tapping it opens VEXA straight into a session rather than dropping you on the home screen.

Repeat options: every day, weekdays, weekends, or a set of days you choose, such as Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Two time bases, and the choice matters if you trade US markets from another country.

  • US Market (ET) fires at that New York wall-clock time. Daylight saving shifts never move it relative to the market open, so a reminder set for 9:15 ET stays 15 minutes before the bell all year.
  • Device time fires at that time on this device’s clock, wherever you are.

Market holidays are skipped. No reminder fires on a market holiday, using the same holiday calendar as your Metrics page.

Before you start

This lives in the phone apps. The web has no notification settings and cannot send you one.

Notifications have to be allowed for VEXA at the system level. If they are not, the reminder is still saved and cannot be delivered, and VEXA says so: “Your reminder is saved, but VEXA can’t notify you until notifications are enabled in Settings.”

A reminder does not start a session on its own. It notifies you, and tapping it starts one.

This is separate from Sentinel’s intervention notifications. Muting interventions does not stop your reminders, and the two are configured in different places.

Steps

  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap the gear icon, then Sentinel Settings.
  3. Scroll to Session Reminders and tap Add Reminder.
  4. Set the time.
  5. Choose US Market (ET) or Device time.
  6. Choose the Repeat pattern.
  7. Save. Use Edit Reminder or Delete Reminder later to change it.
  1. Open Home, then tap Sentinel.
  2. Tap the gear icon (Settings), then Sentinel Settings.
  3. Find the session reminder section and add a reminder.
  4. Set the time, the time basis and the repeat pattern.
  5. Save.

What you should see

The reminder listed with its time, its time basis and its repeat pattern.

At the set time on a trading day, a notification reading “Start your Sentinel session now.” Tapping it opens the Sentinel screen with a session starting.

Nothing on a market holiday, and nothing on days outside your repeat pattern.

If it doesn’t work

It saved but never arrives. Notifications are blocked for VEXA at the system level. Allow them in your phone’s settings for VEXA.

It fired an hour early or late after a clock change. You are on Device time and your country changed its clocks on a different date to the US. Switch to US Market (ET) if you want it pinned to the market open.

It did not fire on a day the market was open. Check the repeat pattern. Weekdays does not include a day you added by hand elsewhere.

It fired on a holiday. It should not. The holiday list is the same one your Metrics page uses, so compare the two before reporting it.

Tapping the notification opens the app but no session starts. Sentinel is locked on your current plan, or the app was signed out. Open Sentinel and check.
