Set up Fitbit Air for Sentinel

Turn on Share Heart Rate and Extended Pairing in the Google Health app, then pair the Fitbit Air to VEXA over Bluetooth.

What this does

Connects a Fitbit Air to VEXA over Bluetooth so Sentinel has a live pulse. Sentinel reads your physiology and has no view of your trades, so this connection is the only thing feeding it.

Two switches have to be on in the Google Health app. Share Heart Rate makes the device broadcast at all, and Extended Pairing is what allows an app other than Google’s own to subscribe. Missing the second one is the usual reason a scan finds nothing.

Before you start

Fitbit Air needs your phone screen to stay on. The Bluetooth link drops when the phone locks. See Why WHOOP and Fitbit need your phone unlocked.

Fitbit Air sends an averaged heart rate rather than beat-to-beat intervals, so the live HRV figure stays empty and rules built on heart rate variability will not fire.

VEXA needs Bluetooth permission on the phone. It asks the first time you scan.

Steps

  1. Open VEXA Sentinel from the sidebar.
  2. Open the Settings tab.
  3. Under Wearable Source, choose Fitbit Air. The setup modal lists the same four steps.
  4. Do the pairing on your phone. The web dashboard displays readings, it cannot pair a device.
  1. Open the Google Health app on your phone.
  2. Go to your Fitbit Air device settings and turn Share Heart Rate on.
  3. In the same Share Heart Rate settings, enable Extended Pairing.
  4. Open VEXA, tap Home, then Sentinel.
  5. Tap the gear icon, then Sentinel Settings, then Wearable Source, and choose Fitbit Air.
  6. Tap Scan for Fitbit Air.
  1. Open the Google Health app on your phone.
  2. Go to your Fitbit Air device settings and turn Share Heart Rate on.
  3. In the same Share Heart Rate settings, enable Extended Pairing.
  4. Open VEXA, tap Home, then Sentinel.
  5. Tap the gear icon (Settings), then Sentinel Settings, then Wearable source, and choose Fitbit Air.
  6. Tap the scan action.

What you should see

The wearable section shows Fitbit Air with the status Connected.

Start a session and the live card fills with a beats-per-minute figure, updating every few seconds, with Fitbit Air named next to the LIVE badge. A reminder about keeping the phone unlocked appears as the session starts.

HRV stays empty, which is correct for this device.

If it doesn’t work

The scan finds nothing. Extended Pairing is off. Share Heart Rate alone is not enough for a third-party app. Both switches live in the same place in the Google Health app.

It connects and then drops after a minute. The phone screen locked.

The device is already connected to something else. Disconnect it there first. It serves one connection at a time.
