Set up the Polar H10 for Sentinel
Wet the electrodes, wear the strap below the pecs, close Polar Flow, and pair the H10 to VEXA for live heart rate and HRV.
What this does
Connects a Polar H10 chest strap to VEXA over Bluetooth. Sentinel reads physiology rather than trading activity, and the H10 gives it the most detailed physiology of any supported device: it sends the interval between individual beats, which is what heart rate variability is calculated from. Rules built on HRV work on this strap and do not work on a wrist device.
The H10 has no pairing mode to enter. It broadcasts whenever it is worn and the electrodes are damp.
Before you start
Close the Polar Flow app. The H10 pairs with one app at a time, and if Flow has it, VEXA cannot see it. This is the single most common reason a scan comes back empty.
Dry electrodes do not conduct. Wet them under a tap before you put the strap on, every time. A strap that reads fine in the morning and drops out an hour later has usually dried out.
Position matters. The strap sits around the chest just below the pecs, snug but not tight enough to restrict breathing.
VEXA needs Bluetooth permission on the phone. It asks the first time you scan.
Steps
- Open VEXA Sentinel from the sidebar.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Under Wearable Source, choose Polar H10. The setup modal lists the same steps.
- Do the pairing on your phone. The web dashboard shows readings, it cannot pair a strap.
- Wet the electrodes on the back of the strap.
- Buckle the strap around your chest just below the pecs, snug but not tight.
- Close the Polar Flow app if it is running.
- Open VEXA, tap Home, then Sentinel.
- Tap the gear icon, then Sentinel Settings, then Wearable Source, and choose Polar H10.
- Tap Scan for Polar H10.

What you should see
The wearable section shows Polar H10 with the status Connected.
Start a session and the live card shows a beats-per-minute figure that updates every couple of seconds, faster than a watch. The HRV figure fills in as well, in milliseconds, which is what separates this strap from a wrist device.
The phone can lock. The H10 does not need the screen on.
If it doesn’t work
The scan finds nothing. Polar Flow is holding the strap. Force close it and scan again. Also check the strap is actually on your body, since a dry H10 sitting on a desk does not broadcast.
It connects and then drops. The electrodes have dried out. Re-wet them.
The reading is erratic or spikes to impossible numbers. The strap has slipped or is too loose. Reseat it just below the pecs.
The battery is flat. The H10 uses a coin cell behind the pod. Replace it and rescan.
Polar’s own support page for the H10 is at support.polar.com.
