Verify or change your email address

What the VEXA-branded link page does with each kind of email link, and how to move your account to a different address.

WebiPhoneAndroid Updated

What this does

Every VEXA link that acts on your account lands on one branded page. Verifying an address, resetting a password, confirming a new address and undoing an address change all arrive there, and the page works out which of those you are doing from the link itself.

Before you start

Your email address is your sign-in identity. Changing it changes what you type to sign in, and it changes where receipts and account emails go.

The link page opens in a browser. Tapping a link from an email on your phone opens the phone’s browser, which is correct and expected. You do not need the app in front of you.

The change is not applied until you follow the link. Requesting it sends an email to the new address to prove you own it. Until you open that link, the account is still on the old address.

On iPad and Android tablet, start the change from the web app or from your phone.

Steps

  1. Open the email VEXA sent you.
  2. Follow the link in it.
  3. Read the page heading, which tells you what it is about to do.
  4. Complete the form if there is one, then click Continue.
  1. Open the app and tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
  2. Scroll to Connected Accounts.
  3. Open the option to set your email and password.
  4. Type the address you want the account moved to.
  5. Open the email titled “Confirm your email for VEXA” at the new address and follow the link.
  6. Set a password on the page that opens.

What you should see

The branded page handles four things, and shows you which one it is on:

  • Reset your password. A new-password form, then a success screen and Continue.
  • Verify your email. A confirmation that the address is verified, then Continue.
  • Confirm a new address. The same verification screen, followed by a form to set a password on the new address.
  • Undo an address change. A screen that puts the account back on the previous address. This is the safety net if someone changed your address without you.

If a link is malformed or has already been used, the page says so in VEXA’s own styling rather than showing a raw error.

After a successful address change, sign-in uses the new address. Your trades, scores and subscription do not move, because they belong to the account, not to the address.

If it doesn’t work

The email arrives at the old address, not the new one. Confirmation is deliberately sent to the new address, because that is what proves you own it. If it is not there, check spam at the new address and check the address for a typo.

You followed the link and nothing changed. Sign out and sign back in. The change applies to the account, and a session started before the change can still show the old address until it is refreshed.

You got an “undo this change” email you did not expect. Follow it. It puts your account back on the address you had, then set a fresh password.

The account is on a @privaterelay.appleid.com address. That is Apple’s Hide My Email, and the address change is exactly the fix. See Using Apple Hide My Email.
