Change your profile photo

Upload and crop a profile picture on web, iPhone or Android, and know why it can take a refresh to appear everywhere.

What this does

Sets the picture that appears at the top of your profile, on the avatar button, and next to you in communities and on leaderboards.

Before you start

The photo belongs to your account, not to a device. Change it on one surface and it follows you to the others.

It is squared and shrunk on upload. VEXA converts the image, crops it to a square from the centre of what you chose, and reduces it to 512 pixels. A wide photo will lose its edges, so crop before uploading if the framing matters.

On iPad and Android tablet, change it from the web app or your phone. Those surfaces show the photo but do not offer the picker.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, click your name at the bottom, under which it reads View Profile.
  2. At the top of the page, click Change Photo.
  3. Pick an image file.
  1. Tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
  2. Tap Change Photo under the avatar.
  3. Pick a photo from your library.
  4. Pinch to zoom and drag to reposition inside the crop circle.
  5. Tap Done.

  4. Wait for the upload overlay to finish.

What you should see

The new picture on your profile straight away, and on the avatar button on Home.

On iPhone the cropper says “Pinch to zoom, drag to reposition” and has Cancel and Done. Nothing is uploaded until you tap Done.

Other devices pick the change up on their next sign-in or refresh. Leaderboards and communities may show the previous picture for a while, because those views cache avatars.

If it doesn’t work

The old picture is still showing on another device. Pull to refresh on the profile screen. If it persists, sign out and back in on that device.

Nothing happens after choosing an image. VEXA needs permission to read your photos. Grant it in your device’s own settings for the VEXA app, then try again.

The photo is cropped badly. It is squared from the centre. Crop it square yourself in your phone’s photo editor first, then upload that version.
