Sign out
Where the Sign Out button is on each surface, what gets cleared from the device, and what stays exactly where it was.
What this does
Ends the session on this device. Your account, trades, scores and plan are untouched. Signing back in returns you to exactly where you were.
Before you start
Signing out is not deleting. Nothing is removed from your account. If you want the account gone, that is a different and permanent action. See Delete your VEXA account.
It clears what was cached on the device. On Android that includes the data behind the home-screen widgets and the rules tracker summary, so a shared device does not keep showing your P&L to whoever picks it up next.
Sign out is the fix for a few stale-cache problems. The greeting on Android reading an old name is the common one, because that name is cached until a fresh sign-in.
Steps
- In the sidebar, click your name at the bottom, under which it reads View Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Sign Out.
- Confirm in the dialog.
- Tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign Out.
- Confirm in the alert.
- Tap the profile chip at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign Out.
- Confirm in the alert.
- Tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign Out.
- Confirm in the dialog.
- Tap the profile chip at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Scroll to Sign Out.
- Confirm in the Sign Out? dialog.
What you should see
A confirmation first. On web and the phones it reads “Sign Out. Are you sure you want to sign out?” with Cancel and Sign Out. On Android tablet the dialog is titled Sign Out?.
After confirming, you land on the sign-in screen. On the apps that is the first step of setup, which is where sign-in lives.
On Android, home-screen widgets stop showing your figures. They repopulate after the next sign-in and sync.
Signing out clears the device outright, so it is worth knowing what that does and does not cost you. Your trades and journal entries are held on our servers and come back when you sign in again, so those are safe. What does not survive is anything still queued to reach the server, and the profile answers kept on the device: trading experience, goals and struggles. If you have been offline, run a sync before you sign out. See Cloud Sync.
If it doesn’t work
The app returned to a setup screen with a spinner instead of the sign-in screen. Older Android builds resumed the setup flow at the step they last remembered, which could not advance while signed out. Update the app from Google Play.
You signed out on one device and got signed out on the others too. That is a password change, not a sign-out. Setting or changing a password ends sessions everywhere by design.
You cannot sign back in. Use the same method you signed in with before. See Sign in to VEXA.
