Using Apple Hide My Email
Why VEXA refuses to set a password on a private relay address, and the two ways to get a second sign-in method anyway.
What this does
Apple’s Hide My Email gives an app a forwarding address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com
instead of your real one. Mail reaches you, but the address is not something you would ever type.
VEXA therefore refuses to set a password on it, and says so rather than letting you set one that
could never be used.
There are two ways out: give VEXA your real address, or link Google as your second method.
Before you start
Check whether this applies to you. Open Connected Accounts in your profile. If setting a password is blocked with “Set password not available, you’re using Apple’s Hide My Email”, it applies. If you can set a password normally, read Sign in with Apple: set a backup password instead.
Your Apple sign-in keeps working either way. Nothing here removes it. You are adding a second route, not replacing the first.
Which route to pick. Giving VEXA your real address and setting a password takes two emails and gives you a normal password login. Linking Google takes one window and no email at all. Both leave you with two ways in.
On iPad and Android tablet, do this from the web app in a browser or from your phone. Those two surfaces show the account status but do not run the flow.
Steps
- Open
app.vexatrade.aiand sign in with Apple. - In the sidebar, click your name at the bottom, under which it reads View Profile.
- Scroll to Connected Accounts.
- On the Google row, click Link.
- Finish in the Google window that opens.
- Open the app and tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
- Scroll to Connected Accounts.
- Open the set password option and read the Hide My Email notice.
- Choose the option to set your email and password, and type the real email address you want on the account.
- Open the email titled “Confirm your email for VEXA” and follow the link.
- Set a password on the page that opens.
- Open the app and tap the circular avatar at the top right of Home.
- Scroll to Connected Accounts.
- Open the set password option. The form reads “Enter your real email address. We’ll send a link to confirm it and set a password. Your Apple sign-in keeps working.”
- Type the real email address you want on the account.
- Open the email titled “Confirm your email for VEXA” and follow the link.
- Set a password on the page that opens.
What you should see
If you linked Google, the Google row in Connected Accounts flips to linked. Sign out once and sign back in with Google to prove it reaches the same account, with the same trades and the same plan.
If you gave VEXA your real address, two emails arrive in order. First “Confirm your email for VEXA”, which carries the link. Then, once the password is set, “Your VEXA password was changed”, which is a security notice you do not need to act on.
Setting a password signs you out on your other devices. Sign back in with the new address and password. Sign in with Apple still works and still lands in the same account.
If it doesn’t work
The confirmation email did not arrive at your real address. Check spam. Check the address you typed for a typo, since the link goes to the address you entered, not to the relay.
You have stopped forwarding the relay address in your Apple ID settings. Then mail sent to the relay is discarded before it reaches you. Turn forwarding back on in your Apple ID settings, or use the Google route instead, which needs no email.
Setting a password is still blocked after changing the address. The change only takes effect once you follow the link in the confirmation email. Until then the account is still on the relay address.
