Keyboard shortcuts on iPad and Android tablet
Both tablet apps have navigation shortcuts and neither one advertises them. Here is the full list for each.
What this does
If you use VEXA on a tablet with a keyboard attached, you can move between screens without touching the sidebar. Nothing in either app mentions them.
Before you start
They are tablet-only. The iPhone and Android phone apps have no keyboard shortcuts, because they have no sidebar to move around.
You need a hardware keyboard. A Magic Keyboard, a folio case with keys, or any Bluetooth keyboard.
The number keys follow the sidebar order on iPad and do not on Android tablet. On iPad the numbers walk the sidebar from the top. On Android tablet the numbers include CDI Breakdown, which is not a sidebar row at all, so the two lists do not line up. Use each table rather than assuming.
On Android, the key is the one the system calls Meta. That is Command on an Apple keyboard and the Windows key on a PC keyboard.
Steps
- Attach a keyboard.
- Hold Command for a moment to see the shortcut list on screen, or open the menu bar on iPadOS 26 and later.
- Use the shortcuts below.
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
Option Command S, or Command / | Hide or show the sidebar |
Command 1 to Command 9 | Jump to the first nine sidebar destinations, from the top |
Command , | Opens Profile |
The first nine sidebar destinations, in order, are Dashboard, Journal, Metrics, Weekly Overview, Rules Tracker, VEXA Chat, Voice, Sentinel and Pattern Recognition. The rest of the sidebar appears in the Window menu without a number.
- Attach a keyboard.
- Use the shortcuts below. There is no on-screen list to check them against.
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
Meta 1 | Dashboard |
Meta 2 | CDI Breakdown |
Meta 3 | Journal |
Meta 4 | Metrics |
Meta 5 | Weekly Overview |
Meta 6 | VEXA Chat |
Meta 7 | VEXA Voice |
Meta 8 | Sentinel |
Meta 9 | Trades |
Meta / | Collapse or expand the sidebar |
Escape is left alone, so it still does whatever the screen you are on does with it.
What you should see
The screen changes to the destination you asked for, the same as tapping the sidebar row.
On iPad, holding Command brings up the shortcut list itself. On iPadOS 26 and later the same items
sit in the real menu bar under View and Window. On earlier versions they appear only in the hold-
Command overlay.
On iPad, Command and comma opens Profile. That is correct and not a misfire: there is no
separate settings screen in VEXA, so the shortcut that conventionally opens settings goes to the
screen that holds them.
If it doesn’t work
Nothing happens on any shortcut. The keyboard is probably driving the system rather than the app. Tap once inside the VEXA window to give it focus, then try again.
A number key goes somewhere unexpected on Android tablet. Check the table. The Android numbering includes CDI Breakdown at 2, which pushes everything after it one place away from the sidebar order.
Command and comma opened your profile and you wanted a settings screen. That is the settings
screen. See The Profile screen, section by section.
You are in split screen and the sidebar has gone. At narrow widths the Android tablet app drops the sidebar entirely, so the shortcut that toggles it has nothing to toggle. Make the window wider.
