I lost access to a feature mid-session

Why a screen you were using can lock itself without you doing anything, and what to do when it happens.

Same on every platform Updated

What this does

You were reading a page, you clicked something, and now there is a lock screen where the page used to be. Nothing has gone wrong with your account. A time-limited period of access ended while the app was open, and VEXA re-checked your plan on the next navigation.

Why it happens

Access is checked at the moment you open a screen, not once when you sign in. That is deliberate: checking on every navigation is what lets an upgrade take effect instantly. The same mechanism runs in the other direction, so when a period of access ends, the gate closes on your next click rather than waiting for you to restart the app.

The usual cause is your first week. Every new account gets seven days of full access with no card. It ends exactly seven days after signup, at that time of day, wherever you happen to be in the app. See Your first week is on us: Full Access explained.

The same thing happens at the end of a trial, or when a subscription lapses.

What locks and what does not

Three features need the Pro plan: Sentinel, Pattern Recognition and Weekly Overview.

Most of the rest, including Trade Analysis, the Journal, Portfolio, the Rules Tracker, Playbooks, Communities and Leaderboards, and the CDI breakdown, need Edge or above. Communities and Leaderboards need Edge on every surface, phones and tablets included.

The Dashboard, Metrics and Trades stay available on every plan, so you never lose sight of your own data. Broker connection screens do need a paid plan, which means an unpaid account cannot start a new import.

For the full map, see Why a feature is locked.

Steps

  1. Read the lock screen. It names the plan the feature needs.
  2. Open the sidebar footer card, choose View Profile, and read Subscription.
  3. If you want to continue, tap the plan card there to reach Choose your plan.
  4. If you already paid, reload the page once. Your access is switched on independently of the checkout page.

  4. If you already bought on this device and it is still locked, use Restore Purchases.

What you should see

Subscription shows one of: your first-week preview with days remaining, a trial with an end date, an active plan with a renewal date, or nothing active. Whichever it shows explains the lock screen exactly.

Two things worth knowing before they surprise you

  • You can subscribe during your first week without losing the rest of it. Buying early does not cut the preview short.
  • The first week is once per email address, permanently. Deleting the account and signing up again with the same address does not grant another one.
