The app opened a browser dialog that looks broken
The plain grey boxes that ask you to type a name or a number are your browser's own dialogs, not a phishing attempt and not a fault.
What this does
A few places in the web app use your browser’s built-in dialog boxes instead of VEXA’s own styled ones. They look nothing like the rest of the product: plain grey, system font, pinned to the top of the window. People reasonably assume something has gone wrong or that a page is impersonating VEXA. They are genuine.
Where they appear
| What you were doing | What you see |
|---|---|
| Saving a layout on Metrics | A text box asking “Enter layout name:“ |
| Loading a layout on Metrics | A numbered list of your layouts, asking you to type the number |
| Loading a layout with none saved | A message reading “No saved layouts yet” |
| Uploading a file that is too large | A message rather than a toast |
| A journal entry or a playbook deletion failing to save | A message rather than a toast |
| Connecting or disconnecting Discord | A confirm box with OK and Cancel |
Nothing else in VEXA uses them. If a plain browser dialog appears anywhere other than the rows above, treat it as suspicious and close the tab.
Steps
Web only
- Read the text in the box. It is one line and it says what it wants.
- For the layout prompt, type the name or the number and confirm.
- For a confirm box, OK proceeds and Cancel does nothing.
- If the box does not appear at all when you expect one, your browser is blocking these dialogs. Allow them for the VEXA app, or use a different browser for that action.
What you should see
For a save, your layout name appears in the layout list afterwards. For a load, the widget board rearranges to the layout you numbered. For Discord, the connection state on the profile card changes.
Why some people never see them
Browsers can be configured to suppress these dialogs entirely, and some managed or hardened profiles do it by default. In that case you get neither a dialog nor an outcome, which is the most confusing version of this problem. Switching browsers is the quickest way to test for it.
If it doesn’t work
- You typed a layout name and it did not save. Layout changes only persist against a named layout. Editing the default board without saving loses the change on reload.
- You are not sure the box is genuine. VEXA never asks for a password, a card number or a code in one of these. Anything that does is not from us.
- The action fails silently every time. See Contact support and say which browser you are using.
