Voice and chat limits
The monthly allowance for voice minutes and chat messages, the separate daily voice caps, and what to do when you hit either.
What this does
Voice and chat are metered. Your plan includes an amount of each per month, and voice carries two extra daily caps on top of the monthly one.
Your monthly allowance
| Plan | Voice minutes per month | Chat messages per month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | 5 |
| Edge | 100 | 300 |
| Pro | 300 | 900 |
- These are the defaults. Your account can be set higher, and the live figure is always the one on your Subscription screen.
Counting is per account, not per device. It resets on your subscription anniversary rather than on the first of the month, so a plan started on the 12th resets on the 12th. Your exact window is printed on the AI Usage card in your profile.
What counts as a voice minute
Every minute of live speech with VEXA, wherever it happens:
- VEXA Voice sessions
- Voice sessions started from a journal day
- Sentinel speaking an intervention to you during a session
They draw on one total.
What counts as a chat message
Each message you send. Replies from VEXA do not count, and neither does opening a past conversation.
The two daily voice caps
Separate from your monthly minutes, and separate from each other. They stop a runaway session spending a month’s allowance in an afternoon.
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Voice sessions per day | 100 |
| Voice minutes per day | 300 |
Both reset the next day. Neither depends on your plan, and hitting one does not use up your monthly allowance any faster.
Two other limits worth knowing
- A single chat message can be up to 10,000 characters.
- VEXA reads back the last 50 messages of a conversation when it answers. A longer conversation still works, and the earlier part of it is carried by VEXA’s memory rather than re-read in full.
What you should see
Open Profile, then AI Usage. A bar for voice minutes and a bar for chat messages, each against your plan’s total, with the current billing window named above them. The bars turn yellow at 80 percent and red when the allowance is gone.
If it doesn’t work
Chat stops replying and says you have reached your quota. The exact copy is “You’ve reached your AI chat quota for this period. Please upgrade your plan or wait until your quota resets.” Nothing is broken. See What happens when you hit a limit.
Voice will not connect after a heavy day. Check the two daily caps above. The message you get does not name them, so this one is easy to mistake for a bug. It clears the next day.
Your allowance looks different from the table. Individual accounts can be set higher than the default. The figure on your own AI Usage card is the one that applies. See Read the AI Usage card.
The count did not reset on the 1st. It resets on your subscription anniversary. See AI usage limits by plan.
