Voice reminders

Reminders are created by asking VEXA out loud. There is no add button anywhere, which is why people cannot find one.

What this does

You can tell VEXA to remind you about something and it will. Reminders can repeat, and they can be set against the market open rather than a clock time.

The part that catches everyone out

There is no add button. The Reminders screen lists, edits, pauses and deletes. It does not create. The only way to make a reminder is to ask VEXA for one, in a chat or out loud.

Say what you want and when:

  • “Remind me to review my rules at 9:15 every weekday”
  • “Remind me five minutes before market open to check my plan”
  • “Remind me to journal at 4pm”

VEXA confirms what it set. The reminder then appears in the list.

The empty state says as much, in smaller print than most people read: “No reminders yet. Ask VEXA to set a reminder for you!”.

Before you start

Asking by voice needs a voice session. Asking in chat works too, and is easier to get exact times right in.

Android tablet cannot show the list. Its Reminders button raises a message saying the feature is coming soon. Reminders you set still fire; you manage them on your phone or on the web.

Steps

Once one exists, this is where it lives.

  1. Click VEXA Voice in the sidebar.
  2. Click Reminders at the top of the page.
  3. Use the pencil to edit, the pause control to stop it firing without deleting it, or the trash to delete it.
  1. Tap the third tab in the bar at the bottom, the voice mark.
  2. Tap Reminders.

What you can change afterwards

Editing opens Edit Reminder, with four things you can change:

  • Reminder Message, the words you will be reminded with
  • Time
  • Recurrence: One time, Daily, Weekdays, Weekends or Weekly
  • Notification Type: Voice Notification, where VEXA speaks it and the app needs to be open, or Push Notification, a silent notification to your phone

Pausing keeps the reminder and stops it firing. The row shows Paused while it is off, and each reminder shows how many times it has fired.

What you should see

The list shows each reminder with its time, its recurrence and whether it speaks or notifies. Deleting one asks you to confirm and shows the wording of the reminder you are about to remove.

At the set time, a spoken reminder goes to whichever device you used most recently, so it follows you between your phone and your browser rather than staying where you set it. A push reminder arrives as a notification on your phone.

If it doesn’t work

You cannot find a way to add one. There isn’t one. Ask VEXA instead. This is the single most common confusion with this feature.

A voice reminder did not speak. Voice reminders need the app open. Change it to a push notification if you want it to reach you when VEXA is closed.

A push reminder did not arrive. Check that notifications are allowed for VEXA in your device settings. The web app has no push at all, so a reminder set to notify reaches your phone rather than your browser.

“We couldn’t load your reminders. Please try again.” The list failed to load. Try again from the panel.

VEXA set the wrong time. Say the time with the day and the timezone you mean, then correct it in the list. Editing the time is quicker than asking twice.
