What this does

Everything you can do while a voice session is running: stop VEXA talking, stop VEXA hearing you, read what has been said, and end the call.

Before you start

A session has to be connected for any of this to apply. See Start a voice session.

The controls

Mute stops VEXA hearing you. The session stays connected and the timer keeps running, so muting is not a way to pause your minutes.

Hang up ends the session. The transcript is saved and a summary is written afterwards.

The session timer counts up from the moment you connect. It is the number that matters for your daily and monthly minutes.

The transcript builds as you talk, scrolling to keep up. It is the record of the call, and it is what the summary is written from.

Interruption Mode lets you talk over VEXA and have it stop to listen. With it off, VEXA finishes its answer before it hears you again.

Steps

  1. Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute.
  2. Click the hand icon to switch Interruption Mode on or off.
  3. Click the transcript control to slide the conversation up from the bottom.
  4. Click the red hang-up icon to end the session.

Interruption Mode and speakers

On a speaker, VEXA can hear itself and stop as though you had interrupted. Every platform filters for that, and none of them manage it perfectly at volume.

Headphones fix it everywhere, because nothing loops back into the microphone. If you are on a speaker and VEXA keeps stopping mid-sentence, turn Interruption Mode off. See Voice troubleshooting.

What you should see

The state line under the orb changes as you use the controls. Muting stops it moving to listening while you talk. Interruption Mode shows its own on and off state, and with it on, speaking over VEXA cuts the answer short within a second or so.

Hanging up returns you to the idle screen, and the session appears in your summaries a short time later. See Voice summaries.

If it doesn’t work

VEXA keeps interrupting itself. Use headphones, or turn Interruption Mode off.

You muted and VEXA still replied. It was already answering. Mute affects what it hears next, not what it has already started saying.

The transcript is behind the conversation. It writes as speech is recognised, so it trails by a sentence. It catches up.

Hang up did nothing. The connection had already dropped. Leave the screen and come back, and the session will be closed.
