-
In IBKR's Client Portal, build an Activity Flex Query on your Master account, the one whose ID starts with U, and generate a Flex Web Service token. Set the token to expire after a year, because a short expiry works today and then stops working silently a few months later.
-
Paste the query ID and token into VEXA. Sync pulls your fills whenever you press it and reaches the last 365 days, rolling.
-
For anything older than a year, build a Trade Confirmation Flex Query, set the period to All, export it as CSV and upload it once. The two sources overlap and VEXA discards the duplicates, so there is nothing to be careful about.
-
VEXA rebuilds each round trip from the individual fills, applies the commissions IBKR reports, and adds the finished trade to your journal.

What VEXA does with your Interactive Brokers trades
Importing is the boring half. Once your fills are in, VEXA rebuilds each round trip, scores how you traded it, and keeps a record you can actually argue with.
The journal writes itself
Every fill becomes a trade with the entry, exit, size, fees and net result already filled in. Daily, weekly and monthly journals are built from that, so your review starts with reading rather than typing.
A CDI score, updated daily
VEXA grades Confidence, Discipline and Intuition from how you actually traded, not just what you made. It is a patent-pending framework (US App #64/030,397) and the score moves with your activity each day.
Your rules, graded every trading day
Set the limits you want to hold yourself to, like a daily loss cap or a maximum position size, and VEXA marks each day against them so a broken rule is a fact rather than a feeling.
Playbooks that show what works
Tag your setups and VEXA tracks each one across enough trades to say something meaningful about it, instead of leaving you to judge an edge from the last three results.
Patterns you would not catch by eye
VEXA reads your history for repeated behaviour: the hour you tend to give profit back, the size you jump to after a loss, the setup you keep taking when conditions do not suit it.
A coach you can talk to
Ask about a single trade, a bad week, or your last drawdown, by chat or out loud by voice. The answers come from your own imported trades rather than generic advice.
VEXA is an educational tool for reviewing your own trading. It does not provide financial advice, and it never places orders or moves money in your broker account.
Interactive Brokers questions, answered
The things people ask before connecting Interactive Brokers. If yours is not here, the help centre goes deeper, and you can always ask us directly.
Contact usTwo different ones, for two different jobs, and IBKR calls both of them Flex Queries. An Activity Flex Query is what the sync reads when you press Sync in VEXA, so there is no file to export. A Trade Confirmation Flex Query produces the file you upload yourself. They use different date and time formats, so they are not interchangeable: an Activity file will not upload and a Trade Confirmation ID will not sync.
The sync reaches the last 365 days, and IBKR hands back that same rolling window every time it is asked. The file export can reach all of your history. Most people set up both: the sync for everything going forward, and one Trade Confirmation file for the backfill.
Yes. Upload a file covering several IBKR accounts and VEXA splits it by account ID and creates one account for each, so you do not have to export them separately. One setting breaks this. Leave Display Account Alias in Place of Account ID set to No, because with aliases standing in for IDs, VEXA cannot tell the accounts apart.
Almost always because it is XML. IBKR offers CSV, XML and HTML, and the upload reads CSV. An XML file comes back saying no valid executions were found. The other cause is a query with columns missing: choose the Trade Confirmations section and tick all of its fields, because a partial export leaves VEXA nothing to rebuild the trade from.
No. The Flex Web Service token is a read credential for reports. VEXA can read your executions and nothing else. It cannot place orders, move money, or change any setting in your account.
Trade somewhere else too?
VEXA connects to every broker in the directory, and each one keeps its own account inside a single journal.
